Singhania caps fine weekend in Mugello with second place in championship

Gautam Hari Singhania capped a fine weekend in the Coppa Shell category of the Ferrari Challenge Europe Championship 2015 by bagging second place in the overall standings in Mugello (Italy) on Saturday.

He had won Race 1 and finished seventh in Race 2 after qualifying on pole and sixth for the races respectively. With this, Singhania has bagged a total of 10 podium spots in the championship.

Commenting on his historic win, Singhania said: “I am thrilled to finish my first season in second position in the overall championship. It is yet another proud moment for me at the seventh round of the Ferrari Challenge Europe Championship in Mugello. It has been a great season for me so far and I am looking forward for a great performance in the world finals tomorrow as well.”

On Sunday, Singhania secured the fourth spot in the final race of the Ferrari Championship Series 2015. This finale in Mugello was the culmination of 14 races spread across seven rounds for the title of ‘Ferrari World Champion 2015’. Singhania amassed a total of 171 points in the Coppa Shell category and bagged second spot in the championship. His best lap time in the World Finals on Sunday was 1:56:119.

Singhania added: “I am thrilled and overjoyed to finish the World Finals in this leading position. A power packed year with all the hard work has finally culminated into one of the most memorable racing achievements and I am glad with my overall performance by securing the second position in the overall standings in my maiden full season. The Ferrari World Championship 2015 has been an eventful experience. I look forward to more competitive racing next year.”

Singhania raced with the renowned Swiss Team named Kessel Racing and former F1 driver and current GT driver Andrea Motermini has been his coach for the entire season.
